Pacific Coast Staffing has partnered a firm whose principal practice area is the defense of complex toxic tort and mass tort claims with specialized experience in cases dealing with the respiratory and central nervous systems.  We are a seeking a Litigation Secretary for their San Francisco Office to support 2-3 Litigation Attorneys.  This firm offers a complete benefit plan as well as a congenial working environment and a competitive salary.

Responsibilities
Able to handle multiple, concurrent projects and tasks; develop open and cooperative relationships and interface well with diverse group of peers and employees; respond to problems and questions, following through until completion; meet and keep deadlines; deliver on quality and prompt service to attorneys; and have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-moving, rapidly changing legal environment.  Some responsibilities are but are not limited to:

Responsible for calendaring all events in the litigation process: motion deadlines; trial and pre-trial dates; discovery deadlines, case management conferences, all of which are critical to the day-to-day management of the cases for which attorneys are responsible. 
Prepare for trial by assisting paralegals and attorneys with motions in limine, statement of the case, exhibit lists, proposed jury instructions, jury questionnaires, verdict forms.
Prepare shells for attorneys in the preparation for all motions, including summary judgment motions, discovery requests and responses; responses to offers to compromise, objections to deposition notices, and formatting pleadings in final format.
Monitor emails on daily basis regarding all information and events that affect the cases at hand, such as: hearing dates, trial dates, discovery deadlines, case management conferences, status conferences. 
Maintain discovery charts for cases and post all dates when discovery is propounded or received.  Report all motion dates, discovery response dates to those who maintain the Firm Calendar.
Set up conference calls as required; set up Court Calls when attorneys request to call into a hearing rather than appear in person.
Order deposition transcripts from various court reporting agencies when requested by associates.
File pleadings in the following courts using electronic filing (Lexis and Pacer) when mandated:  California County Superior Courts, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Multi District Litigation..
Attention to perpetual changes in the Court systems; calendar dark days, mindful of early court closure days, days in which hearings are scheduled, ex parte procedures.
Manage work flow and request assistance from overflow secretary when necessary in the overall completion of and meeting of litigation deadlines.

Requirements
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency 
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Maintain strong organization skills, detail oriented, self-motivated

Knowledge and Education
Knowledge of CCP, FRCP, Local Rules, docketing and court procedures, e-filing via Lexis and Pacer
Familiar with Asbestos General Orders; experience with the following programs:  Microsoft Word 2010, Outlook, Prolaw, and Interwoven (iManage)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
