Settlement Coordinator

Los Angeles, CA (downtown)

Pacific Coast Staffing has partnered a firm whose principal practice area is the defense of complex toxic tort and mass tort claims with specialized experience in cases dealing with the respiratory and central nervous systems.  We are a seeking a Settlement Coordinator for their Los Angeles Office.

Job Requirements:

 Paralegal Certificate required

 Law firm or accounting experience preferred

 Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office, including Excel

 Attention to detail

Duties include but are not limited to:

 Reviews settlement paperwork, works with team members to resolve discrepancies and prepares settlement summary document

 Filing of dismissals

 Detailed tracking with multiple parties

 Experience reviewing medical records

 Maintains escrow account - including distribution of settlement funds

 Weekly reporting on settlement activity

 Reporting for month-end closing

 Client contact experience

Ideal candidate will have a Paralegal certificate and have experience working as a Paralegal.  Candidates must have an extremely detail oriented disposition and excellent follow thru.  

Salary is 55-60K depending on experience.

Legal Investigator
Full-Time, Berkeley, CA

 

We have partnered with an asbestos litigation firm representing plaintiffs. They are a mid-sized firm located in Berkeley, California, with 30 attorneys and approximately 115 employees total. They work in a fast-paced, trial-oriented environment where deadlines are critical. Their employees are highly motivated individuals who are excited by their mission to help their clients. They offer competitive salaries, benefits and a casual work environment.

We are currently searching for an Investigator (bilingual English/Spanish) to join the team. Experience in a plaintiff's law firm and an interest in asbestos cases desired. Will be responsible for large case load, thus organization is a must. Duties will include interviewing potential new clients, locating and interviewing witnesses who may be difficult to find, preparing detailed and organized summaries of interviews for legal staff, reviewing documents and depositions, searching for businesses.

This position requires 2+ years of Investigator experience, excellent communication skills (verbal and written), advanced people locating skills, superior research abilities, the ability to perform in-depth interviews about subject matters that include construction trades, ships, corporations and asbestos products, excellent computer skills and the ability to type at least 40 wpm. Interest and knowledge of asbestos, history, journalism and construction trades are a plus.  Bilingual English/Spanish is a MUST.

Docket/Calendar Coordinator

Pacific Coast Staffing has partnered with a well-respected large bay area law firm in search of a Docket/Calendar Coordinator in their San Francisco, CA office.  

This person would work with the Senior Calendaring Coordinator and Risk Management in formulating and implementing policies, procedures, and practices. The Calendar Department supports firm-wide litigation and transaction calendaring needs, including Intellectual Property. Determines docket/calendar dates from documents and correspondence and inputs and tracks data into docket calendar program. Produces routine calendars reports for all timekeepers and provides guidance with filing deadlines.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is preferred. Strong knowledge of federal and state court calendar rules and procedures is required as well as proficiency with the Compulaw docketing program or a comparable docketing program. Must be able to work well independently or within a team atmosphere and under time pressures. Solid organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective oral and written communication skills. Strong initiative and willingness to assume additional responsibilities as requested. Candidate's must have the ability to prioritize work, manage time, and work flexible hours.
